There has been an increase in targeted scam emails appearing to come from priests, parish staff, or familiar parish contacts, and some have resulted in serious privacy breaches. Please treat any unexpected or unusual email request with caution, especially if it asks for personal information, contact details, payments, gift cards, or urgent action. Before responding, check the sender’s email address carefully and, if unsure, phone the person or parish office using contact details you already know. Do not reply, click links, open attachments, or send any information until you have confirmed the email is genuine. If you believe a scam email has been received or personal information may have been shared, please contact your Parish Privacy Officer or the Diocesan Privacy Officer: Liam Greer – lgreer@pndiocese.org.nz
